UPA Schemes Still on AIR in Dharmapuri

In spite of the model code of conduct coming into effect, the All India Radio (AIR) 102.5 LRS is broadcasting programmes on several UPA schemes.

The code says, the Central and State governments should not publicise their schemes till the election is over. EC has directed the govts not to publicise their schemes. But Dharmapuri AIR station is still relaying programmes on Central Government schemes.

G Marimuthu, State Secretary of Tamil Nadu Youth Front said, “Election code is common to all but the UPA is still using the AIR for its campaign. EC should intervene.”

A AIR official said, “Dharmapuri station is relaying Chennai programmes. Local officials cannot stop them. A mail has been sent to Chennai and Delhi.”
