A man killed his parents late on Monday, following their apparent disinterest in getting him married or providing his share of property. Police said, Muralidharan (24), hacked his parents Mani and Vasantha to death as Mani was against partition of the family assets.
An angered Muralidharan quarrelled with Mani on Monday night and the wordy quarrel soon took an ugly turn when he grabbed a log and attacked his father. Muralidharan’s brother Gnanaprakasam (22), Vasantha and her brother Baskar (25) came to the rescue of Mani. Muralidharan, however, took a sickle and tried to hack Mani.
Gnanaprakasam along with Baskar tried to save his parents but Muralidharan chased the duo and hacked them to death. After the murder, he left them outside their house and fled on a bicycle, said inspector. “We have launched a search for Muralidharan and will soon arrest him,” he added.
