The residents of Sanjeevi Nagar here on Thursday staged a road blockade in front of the Gorimedu police station, after three persons were picked up by the police for questioning, following a clash between two groups.

The clash was a sequel to the rivalry over granite business and police had picked up Vinod (18), Gopi (25) and Arul David (23) on Wednesday night, following a complaint by one Ramalingam.

The relatives of the persons reached the police station on Thursday and entered into an argument with the police personnel. They then resorted to road blockade demanding the release of the arrested persons.

Local MLA Kalyanasundaram reached the police station and talked to the police officials, who assured him to release the three persons.

3 Held for Assault

The Villianur police on Thursday arrested three persons, who assaulted a private company employee, Mangandan, while he was returning from work at Odianpet. The arrested were identified as Suresh, Mullaivalavan and Veeraraju.
