The DMDK has released its final list of candidates for the 14 constituencies it is contesting in the coming Lok Sabha polls, as well as for the by-election to the Alandur Assembly constituency.

Party leader Vijayakant’s brother-in-law and youth wing secretary, L K Sudhish, has expectedly been named as the candidate from Salem.

Sudhish’s candidature was to be announced when Vijayakant campaigned in Salem on March 16, when he was scheduled to introduce Sudhish.

But it was put on hold as hectic parleys continued to bring the PMK into the BJP-led front, with the PMK demanding Salem for itself.

Sudhish had contested from Kallakurichi in the 2009 Lok Sabha polls and from Gudiyatham in the 2006 Assembly elections.

The DMDK also announced that S K Vel would replace N Maheshwaran as the Namakkal candidate, due to Maheshwaran’s hospitalisation.
