Even as PMK and All India NR Congress (AINRC) continue their fight over allocation of Puducherry seat, there is difference of opinion among the DMDK in Puducherry with secretaries of 14 Assembly segments pledging their support to the PMK.
Out of the 23 Assembly segments in Puducherry region, secretaries of Uppalam, Muthialpet, Thattanchavady, Kadirkamam, Indira Nagar, Orleanpet, Ariyankuppam, Manavely, Villianur, Managalam, Embalam, Kamrajnagar, Thirubuvanai and Ossudu in a press statement said that they would work for the victory of the PMK candidate R K R Anantharaman.
Reacting to this, the two DMDK Puducherry incharge, R Selvam alias Selvaraj and R B Ashok Babu, said their decision was unauthorised as the party head Vijayakant was yet to take a decision with regard to Puducherry. The party’s decision will be conveyed within two days after the national executive of BJP gives a clarification on the official candidate, they told Express.
“The 14 secretaries have violated the party line and hence we have written to party head for initiating disciplinary action against them,” they said.
Meanwhile, both AINRC and PMK are trying to get the BJP head to announce the NDA nominee for Puducherry Lok Sabha seat.
Dr Anbumani Ramadoss who has flown to New Delhi on Saturday would be calling on BJP national president Rajnath Singh and other senior BJP leaders and is expected to discuss the allotment of Puducherry seat and an official announcement on it. Even Chief Minister N Rangasamy is contemplating to talk to Rajnath Singh.
“We have no confusion. In future, if necessary, will talk to him (Rajnath Singh) if the confusion created
by NDA allies persists,” Rangasamy told Express.
