ExSATTUR/ THOOTHUKKUDi: The principal of Madurai Law college was killed and his wife and sister-in-law were injured after the car in which they were travelling in it suffered a tyre-burst and overturned on Kanyakumari- Madurai NH 7 near here on Monday morning, police said.
Johnson (56), a native of Kanyakumari district and working as the principal of the Law College in Madurai; his wife Selvinmary (55), working as a professor in a private college in Chennai; and her sister Mariaselvam (56) were returning to Madurai after a visit to Kanyakumari when the mishap occurred.
Johnson lost control over the car after the tyre burst and the vehicle jumped over the divider and crossed lanes before overturning. Johnson, Selvinmary and Mariaselvam sustained serious injuries and were rushed to the Sattur GH. But Johnson succumbed to the injuries.
2 Die in Mishap
A 38-year-old man and his 12-year-old son were killed in an accident when a car hit them near Kovilpatti, in Thoothukkudi on Tuesday. The duo was identified as Sundaram and his son Suresh. While they were on their way to Vanaramutti, Sundaram’s bike was knocked down by a car. Both Sundaram and Suresh sustained fatal injuries and died on the spot.
