MADURAI: A 41-year-old man, who allegedly tried to misbehave with his daughter, was arrested by the Usilampatti police on Monday.
The accused Subramani had an 18-year old daughter from his first marriage. Later, after he divorced his first wife, he admitted the girl to a child service centre at Kalavasal in the city.
Meanwhile, Subramani married one Pandiammal and has three daughters and one son by his second marriage. Subramani had brought his daughter from the centre to his farm house in Usilampatti for the summer vacation.
On May 16, he tried to misbehave with her, after which the girl told her stepsister about the incident a day later.
The stepsister complained to Pandiammal about the man and the stepmother started treating the stepdaughter badly to cover up the incident. The daughter narrated to a neighbour about the incident and a complaint was lodged at the All Women Police Station in Usilampatti and the couple was arrested.
