CUMBUM: The Public Works Department started its inspection to raise the storage level of Mulliperiyar dam.
Based on the Supreme Court order, the PWD authorities from Chennai came to the reservoir and held discussions regarding the preparatory works to be done for raising the dam level. They also inspected the dam. Further, they marked the symbol indicating the level of 142 feet in the shutters. Grease was applied to the 13 shutters and they examined the working condition of the shutters.
Sources said the 12-member team would camp in the reservoir for a week and conduct inspections.
