The public had been complaining that the absence of officials during working hours caused inconvenience to them as well as the functioning of the office. S P Shanmugham said two teams, under inspectors G K Murugavel and G Saravanan, were formed and they were present in the offices from the beginning of office timings.

The SP said the attendance was below 50 per cent till 10 am, though they were supposed to be present from 8.45 am. There were absentees even after 10 am. The VAC officials found that in some sections, the attendance register was not maintained. The absence of officials also led to verbal exchanges between them and the public.
