Rs 4.04 Crore, 1 Kg Jewellery Confiscated

VELLORE:  In a late evening raid on Sunday, police confiscated over `4 crore and one kg of jewellery from the house of a folk artiste at Tharapadaveedu.

Around 5 pm, police entered the house and locked it from inside. The team emerged from the house at 11.10 pm with more than five cartons, according to an eyewitness. Police sources said Mohanambal, a folk artiste, has been residing in the house for nearly 15 years. However,  she was not present in the house at the time of the raid. Police said around `4.04 crore in cash and half kg gold was confiscated from the house. Superintendent of Police P Vijaykumar said that they are on the lookout for Mohannambal. He, however, refused to disclose the source of the cash.
