VELLORE: The Vellore municipal corporation is in a legal tangle after passing a resolution condemning the verdict against former CM and AIAMDK supremo J Jayalaithaa in a recent council meeting. The Madras High Court on October 8 directed Corporation Commissioner Janaki Raveendran, to appear before the court on November 11, for an explanation regarding this.
Corporation Commissioner Janaki Raveendran said, “As of now, I haven’t received any official communication from the court. Whatever, the direction is, it would come through the Corporation advocate.”
Sources said, the special resolution was not placed in the minutes book of council meeting. “If there is an amendment to the resolution, it should be done before the council. They can’t amend it without councillors,” said a councillor.
