Duo Breaks into Jeep, Steals Rs 1.7 Lakh

VILLUPURAM: Two bike-borne men broke the window of a jeep, belonging to a managing director of a school, and decamped with Rs 1.76 lakh in cash kept in the vehicle.  According to police, Mohan (52) was running a private school for differently-abled children in Villupuram. On Saturday afternoon, he withdrew the money from a nationalised bank and was returning home. On the way, he stopped to meet a chemist, who supplied medicines to the school, near Thiru Vi Ka Road in Villupuram town.  It was then, the bikers broke the window of the jeep and escaped with the cash. Other road-users tried to catch them, but the duo sped away. Mohan lodged a complaint with the Villupuram town police.  A case was registered and police are on the lookout for the robbers.
