NCC Cadets from Pondy Bring in Laurels Aplenty

PUDUCHERRY: The Tamil Nadu, Puducherry and Andaman Nicobar National Cadet Corps Directorate has won many laurels in the All- India NCC Vayu Sainik Camp (AIVSC-2014) held in Bengalore recently.

The cadets won the AIVSC trophy for the Best Directorate for the third consecutive year.

According to a press release from the Directorate here on Tuesday, as many as 420 senior division boys and 180 senior wing girl cadets representing 17 Directorates participated in the camp. Out of this, 42 Air Wing cadets comprising 30 senior division and 12 senior wing cadets represented Tamil Nadu, Puducherry and Andaman & Nicobar Directorate this year.  The All India Vayu Sainik Camp is a national-level camp held exclusively for NCC Air Wing

Various competitions like flying, aero-modelling, line and tent area, firing  and drill were conducted. Intensive training was imparted to the selected cadets during these camps conducted over a period of three months. The cadets were then selected based on their performance during the inter-group competition camp held in Erode.

The  press release said that  another contingent comprising 144 Air Wing cadets of 72 senior division boys and 42 senior division girls represented TN, Pondicherry and Andaman and Nicobar Directorate this year in the NCC National Games conducted in New Delhi from October 8-15.

The contingent was then given a reception on their arrival in Chennai on Tuesday.
