PUDUCHERRY: A large number of events has been planned for the celebrations on November 1, which has been declared as the Puducherry Liberation Day.
This is the first time the day is being celebrated on the occasion of the 60th year of existence of the Union Territory.Puducherry was liberated on November 1, 1954.
The Territorial government recently issued a notification declaring that day as Liberation Day, which would be a public holiday.
A high-level meeting chaired by the Chief Minister N Rangasamy, along with the heads of various departments, decided to organise the day-long celebrations, which would begin with flags being hoisting on the Beach Road, at the Legislative Assembly and on the government buildings. Also, a guard of honour would be presented on the Beach Road along with many other events.
