CHENNAI: State Forest Minister MSM Anandan on Tuesday held a meeting with senior officials to review the progress of various projects and works being carried out by his department.

The meeting took stock of the progress of the government scheme to plant over 65 lakh trees each year as part of the efforts to increase the green cover, and other schemes announced in the Assembly by former Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa.

Also, the Minister reviewed efforts being taken to address and mitigate increasing cases of man-animal conflict arising out of human encroachment of wildlife habitat in villages and settlements adjoining forest regions.
