CUMBUM: The committee constituted for monitoring the safety of Mullaiperiyar dam will conduct an inspection at the dam site on Monday.
The five-member sub committee comprising of Central Water Commission Kochi division executive engineer Umberji Harish Girish, Kerala Irrigation Department executive engineer George Daniel, assistant engineer N S Praseed, Tamil Nadu Public Works Department (PWD) executive engineer Madhavan and sub-divisional officer Soundaram would submit a report regarding the safety of the dam to the three-member committee appointed by the SC.
The panel will look into the water level and seepage at the dam site.The sub committee’s visit is in pursuance of the Supreme Court’s directive on raising the water level from 136 to 142 feet.
