Rape Accused Undergoes Potency Test

PUDUCHERRY: A team of doctors at the government General Hospital  here conducted a potency test on the accused in the sexual assault case of 10-year-old girl on Tuesday.

The accused Arumugham (42), a shopkeeper at Lingareddipalayam ,was arrested by the Katterikuppam police on the charge of  sexually assaulting the girl last month. He was produced before a local court and remanded in jail.

According to sources, Katterikuppam police decided to have the potency test conducted on Arumugham as part of the investigations. The accused then moved the local court challenging this. However, the local court rejected his plea and he was also denied bail.

It is alleged that the shopkeeper, Arumugham, had kidnapped the minor girl, who came to his shop for buying milk, on a motorcycle and  sexually assaulted her. After that he also threatened her with dire consequences if she disclosed the fact to others.
