Vellore Cops Get Pat from I-G for Jobs Well Done

VELLORE: The men in khaki in the district received a pat on their backs and cash rewards for outstanding service from senior police officials, on Sunday.

Inspector General of Police North Zone M N Manjunatha said the district police has done a wonderful job solving several cases. The IG also mentioned a few such cases.

He  congratulated the team led by the DSP of Katpadi V Mathivanan, for the rescue of 54-year-old financier-cum-realtor Gopi Chettiyar, a native of Walajapet from his abductors within two days. 

The IG also sought to highlight the successful arrest of S Arulnathan of Matchakulam village in Villupuram district in connection with the murder of Parimala ([57) at her daughter’s house in V G Rao Nagar in Katpadi on July 13. On interrogation the murderer confessed that he along with his two friends Bala (alias S Balamurugan, (19) of Villupuram and S Praveen Kumar (28) of Viruthampet in Vellore had murdered the woman for her jewels. The IG added that the “Assistant Director of Forensic Wing Pari played a vital role and helped the investigating team solve the case.”

IG MN Manjunatha also mentioned the recovery of 240 sovereigns of gold jewelsfrom four habitual offenders by police in the Tirupattur sub-division. A cash price was handed over to to DSP of Tirupattur A Sujatha.

The recovered jewels were handed over to the courts from where the owners can re-claim them. DIG of Vellore Range R Tamil Chandran was also present on the occasion.
