`637 cr for green energy project

Chennai: The Centre would provide `637 crore for Tamil Nadu Transmission Corporation, to implement green energy corridor project, said joint secretary of Ministry of New and Renewable Energy, Alok Srivastava. Speaking on the sidelines of FOWIND stakeholder sensitisation workshop on offshore wind power in India, Srivastava said, the funds would soon be cleared by Centre. The fund is being sanctioned under the National Clean Energy Fund (NCEF). Tantransco is working on a green corridor project between Chennai and Kayatharu in southern TN. Tantransco will put up another transmission line between Theni and Salem, apart from a line between Pavurchatram and Kovilpatti.Implementation of green energy corridor projects will be accelerated to facilitate evacuation of renewable energy.
