Owners Blame Factory for Cattle Deaths

THANJAVUR:  Three cows and two bulls have died since Wednesday while two more have taken ill after consuming effluent-mixed water released by fabrication unit near Budalur.

According to sources, four cattle that went for grazing near Kaada lake in Pazhaya Kaariappatti village died. Joint Director of Animal Husbandry Dr R Selvavinayagam told Express that the animals were taken ill after drinking the factory discharge. The animals drank the effluents since there was water scarcity in the village, he said, adding that they consumed the industrial waste on the border of the factory.
