BODI:Owner of private girls’ hostel was arrested on charges of sexually harassing inmates here on Saturday. The action was initiated following a complaint received by ChildLine number 1098.
According to police, the accused Vanaraj (45) owned two hostels — one for boys and another for girls. While Vanaraj was managing the boys’ hostel at Arivuthirukovil street, his wife Kani worked as the warden of the girls’ facility on the Paramasivan Kovil street.
As Kani had fallen sick, Vanaraj was looking after the girls hostel also in the past one week.
According to the police, the girls in their complaint alleged that Vanaraj had on several occasions tried to peep inside the bathroom and used to come to the sleeping area at night. Vanaraj also passed sexually explicit comments and touched girls in an inappropriate manner, the girls alleged. Vanaraj was arrested by Bodi Town police after enquiry.
