Close Shave for 45 Passengers as Driver Dies in Stone pelting

HOSUR: Driver of private bus died on Monday night after unidentified persons pelted stones on the moving vehicle near Uthangarai.

The bus was proceeding towards Ambur via Karapattu village near Uthangarai around 8.30 pm when the stones were hurled.

Under the impact, the front windshield got shattered and it hurt the driver Dhanapal (45) belonging to Harur village in Dharmapuri district. Sustaining serious injuries, Dhanapal fainted in the seat while the bus was moving.

Immediately one of the passengers realised the danger and controlled the bus and stopped it on the roadside. More than 45 passengers on the bus had a miraculous escape. Meanwhile, the passengers took the driver to the Government Uthangarai Hospital, where he was declared brought dead.

Uthangarai police have registered case in this connection and enquiring about the culprits who were involved in the crime.

It may be noted that three days ago, some men stoned a government bus when it was passing through the same Karapattu village. Then, the government bus driver was injured.
