3 Prisoners in Kovai Assault Staff; Booked

COIMBATORE: Three men, implicated in the theft of `4 crore worth of red sanders from the Container Corporation of India storage depot in Irugur on April 24, were charged with intimidating jail wardens when they were conducting a search for mobile phones on September 18.

B Manikandan, P Suresh Kumar, and S Punniyamurthy were being searched by a team of jail wardens led by the deputy jail superintendent for cellular phones based on a tip off. When the wardens tried to check the three men, along with a few others, for mobile phones, they allegedly threatened and physically attacked the authorities.
