CWC Doubtful Over Cops' Reunion Claim

CHENNAI:The Child welfare committee members are uncertain whether the rescued children from Child Trafficking ring were really reunited with their actual parents.

CWC officials said that the Tiruverumbur police skipped the basic rules before handing over the children to their respective parents and it would be difficult to ascertain whether the parents are indeed biological ones.

Speaking to Express, S Indira Gandhi, Chairman, Child Welfare Committee (CWC) said that as per the rules, the rescued children should be produced before the CWC on the day of rescue and the agency, after conducting inquiry with the rescued children and their parents, would issue social certificate and recommend for their reunion.

“None of the rescued children was produced before  us. We were not informed officially about the details. It is the the duty of the CWC to look into the issue of rehabilitation,” she added.
