CM's Gesture to Lyricist in Poverty

CHENNAI:Chief Minister and AIADMK general secretary J Jayalalithaa on Saturday came to the rescue of nonagenarian lyricist PK Muthusamy (96), who is reeling under poverty.

   “Muthusamy, hailing from R Pudupatti in Namakkal district had served the Tamil film industry for many years and the lyrics he composed were memorable forever. Scripts written by him for many films are still praised in Tamil film industry. At the age of 96, he continue to pen poems, articles and stories”, a party release here said.

According to the release, Muthusamy had also penned books in praise of the political victories and other achievements of Jayalalithaa.

The release further said in recognition of Muthusamy’s works, the CM had directed to pay Rs 5 lakh as gift to the books written by him. She also ordered that Muthusamy be paid Rs 5,000 per month from the MGR Trust.
