'Number of World Record Bid Rising'

COIMBATORE: The adjudicator of the Guinness World Records, Pravin Patel from London, said that the number of world record attempts is an encouraging factor as more and more people are interested in breaking records.

Though he said that he cannot comment on the mushrooming of dubious firms, which gives ‘world record’ certificates by receiving money from ‘world record agencies’, he said that Guinness is still recognised all over the world. “We have our own set of guidelines and every record is awarded only after careful monitoring, audit and verification at various stages,” he told Express.

He said that the number of individuals attempting world records are still encouraging, though group records also take place at social awareness programmes with mass participation.
