62-yr-old Killed; Jewels Missing

VELLORE:  A sexagenarian was found murdered in her house in Kasanampalayam village near Kurusilapet during the early hours of Thursday. Police suspect the case to be a murder for gain as the jewels worn by the victim were missing.

Gowri (alias) Gowriammal (62) was found dead with froth in her mouth on the ground floor of the house. The incident came to light when Gowri’s daughter-in-law, Sandhya (27), opened the front door of the ground floor around 5.45 am. The door was latched from the outside. The police, having determined that she was smothered to death, were told by family members that Gowri’s six sovereign chain and four sovereign bangles and her mobile phone were missing.

Police lifted fingerprints from the scene of the crime.

“Gowri’s son, Jaisankar (42), is working as a conductor in the TNSTC. After he left for night duty on Wednesday, his wife and three children had gone to the first floor around 8.30 pm to sleep,” said  Inspector of Kurisilapet Gopalakrishnan.
