COIMBATORE: In a novel attempt to draw the attention of the authorities for a solution to his grievance, a milk vendor from RS Puram during the weekly grievance day meeting on Monday, drenched him with milk and staged a protest.
The milk vendor identified as R Shanmugam in his petition said that he planned to reconstruct his house at RS Puram sometime back and approached a couple, R Shanmugasundaram and R Kavitha, an acquaintance of his son.
After discussions, the couple reportedly took Shanmugam to a private bank on Oppanakara street and asked him to sign various documents promising to arrange a loan for his housing project.
“But, the couple misused the signed papers by showing me as a partner in a fake company that they created and obtained a loan to the tune of `56 lakh from the bank in January last year. Besides this, they had also showed the land on which my house was standing was shown as the collateral security for the loan,” he said in his petition.
Shanmugam came to know of the fraud committed by the couple only when he approached the bank to know the status of loan request in October 2014, Shanmugan said.
Aggrieved over this, he staged the milk protest at the Collectorate here on Monday seeking legal action against the couple.
However, police arrested Shanmugam soon after he executed his novel idea at the Collectorate during the grievance day meeting.
