HM, Teachers Suspended For Rigging Exam

SALEM:Two teachers in collusion with the HM of a school, who made class seven and eight students take the State Level Achievement Survey Examination meant for class five students to rig the performance of the school were suspended on Monday.

State Level Achievement Survey Examinations (SLASE) are conducted under the SSA to increase the learning skills of class three, class five and class eight students. The exams were held for three days from January 21 to 23. In Salem, students from 420 schools in 21 blocks participated. One of the schools participating was Selathampatti Middle School in which teachers allegedly allowed class seven and class eight students to take the SLASE meant for class five students.

The SSA state Project Director Pooja Kulkarni, upon learning of the infraction, instructed the Salem district Education department to conduct an inquiry and submit a report.
