Collector's PA Faces Sexual Abuse Charge

VELLORE:About 100 members of the Tamil Nadu Rural Development Officials Association (TNRDOA) staged a hunger strike on Thursday demanding the transfer of the Collector’s personal assistant, who, they allege, has been sexually harassing women employees.

The members claimed that Ravichandranath, personal assistant (development) to district Collector R Nanthagopal, has harassed employees for the past six months in the workplace and threatened them not to disclose it. “We submitted a petition to the Collector on January 12 to take action against Ravichandranath. We also staged a protest on January 29 demanding the same. However, till now, nothing has come of it,” said S Joseph Kennedy, TNRDOA district president.

“We want to know who is supporting him and we will not quit until he is transferred from the district,” he added. The members said they would raise the issue during the TNRDOA State office bearers’ meeting in Villupuram on February 7 and the State executive members’ meeting in Nammakal on February 14.
