Sack Uma Shankar: Thowheedh Jamaath

CHENNAI:The Tamil Nadu Thowheedh Jamaath on Thursday demanded the sacking of IAS officer Uma Shankar for indulging in activities that tend to create a wedge between religious communities. It also accused him of hurting the sentiments of the Muslim community by denigrating the Holy Quran during his preachings.

In a petition addressed to the State Home Secretary, the Jamaath said Muslims revered Prophet Mohammed and the Holy Quran the most and that Umashankar, has been reeling out imaginary information about the Holy Quran and belittling Prophet Mohammed. Enclosing a copy of the CD containing speeches of Uma Shankar, the Jamaath said that his actions were not in tune with the Constitution. Recently, the State Chief Secretary had sent a notice to Umashankar asking him not to participate in ‘preaching meetings’.
