School Shut Protesting Irregular HM

DHARMAPURI: Angered parents on Monday locked the gate of the middle school in Kariamangalam, Dharmapuri district here as the headmistress came irregularly to school.

The middle school is in Poothanahali village, Koviloor panchayat, Kariamangalam block of Dharmapuri in which there are 21 students and two teachers.

Parents said the school headmistress Shanthi had not come to school for several months and that the school facilities were poor.

“Children of daily wage workers, farmers and construction labourers were studying in the school. The headmistress’ irregularity was affecting the education of students. In addition there were no toilets and water facility,” said an upset parent.  “We have sent written appeals to the assistant elementary education officer, Kariamangalm but our appeals had no effect.
