Miffed over Affair, Man Kills Wife, kid

TIRUVANNAMALAI: A 34-year-old man was arrested for murdering his wife and daughter in Thumbur on Wednesday. The deceased have been identified as V Gomathi (24) and her one-and-a-half year-old daughter. Gomathi married her mother’s brother R Vadivelu five years ago.

The couple - Gomathi and Vadivelu - had two children - Hari Prasath alias Dinesh (4) and Bhumika. Vadivelu’s first child Hari Prasath. A police official said, “Enraged over his wife’s alleged illicit relationship with a youth, Vadivelu murdered his wife and his daughter.”

On Wednesday, there was a physical fight between Vadivelu and his wife’s alleged illicit partner Rajesh (22). Vadivelu returned home later and assaulted his wife, using stones and a wooden stick. He also killed his daughter as the villagers would comment that Bhumika resembled Rajesh.

Gomathi’s, mother, who is also Vadivelu’s sister, had been advising Gomathi to end the illicit relationship with Rajesh for more than a year. But, Gomathi continued her relationship with Rajesh.The police said that Vadivelu confessed to the crime and was arrested and remanded in jail. The bodies were handed over to the family members after the post mortem was conducted in the government hospital.

A case was registered in Chetpet police station and an inquiry is on.
