Vocational Teachers Seek Pension Benefits

VELLORE:The state general secretary S N Janardhanan of the Tamil Nadu Higher Secondary Schools Vocational Teachers Kazhagam has appealed to the state government to grant them pension benefits as directed by the courts and passed a resolution to this effect in a meeting in Gudiyattam.

The kazhagam adopted another resolution urging the state government to promote eligible vocational teachers with over 30 years of service to the post of headmaster. The kazhagam urged the government to formulate a policy for the promotion of vocational teachers as graduate teachers with just 10 years of service were being promoted as head masters bypassing many of the experienced vocational teachers in the school. The state government should also accept the recommendations of the Dr Lawrence committee report to decide about the pay scale for the vocational teachers. Janardhanan said that these resolutions would be discussed at the state level meet on Feb 22.
