Farmer Killed in HT Wire Fall Near Anaicut

VELLORE:A 32-year-old farmer was electrocuted while repairing a power line in Periya Ongapadi near Anaicut in Vellore around 10.45 am on Sunday.

The deceased was identified as D Mahi alias Mahendran, a farmer in the locality. He was unmarried and survived by his father Duraiswamy and mother.

According to a police official, “Mahi, was engaged in repairing this line of his neighbour, when his head touched a high tension line and was electrocuted.”

They should have called the Tamil Nadu Generation and Distribution Corporation  workers. Residents have been repairing lines on their own,” said a police official. The Electricity Board office, after being alerted by the police, shut the power to recover the body clinging to the post. Fire and Rescue service recovered the body and sent the body to Government Vellore Medical College and Hospital for postmortem.
