'Name Man For Talks on Fishermen'

PUDUCHERRY:Chairperson of the National Fish Workers Forum M Illango has urged the Territorial administration to function in coordination with the Tamil Nadu government in solving the issues among the fishermen of Tamil Nadu, Puducherry and Sri Lanka.

Addressing reporters here on Tuesday, he said the next round of talks between the fishermen of India and Sri Lanka is scheduled to be held in Chennai on March 5.

Ilango slammed  the Puducherry administration for having named its representative, who would take part in the talks and said the administration was not showing any interest in resolving the issue.

The Chairperson of the National Fish Workers Forum added that the Tamil Nadu government had completed all the formalities for talks.

Pointing out that the new government in Sri Lanka had agreed to release the  87 boats (out of which four belonged to Karaikal fishermen)  seized by the Sri Lankan Navy, Ilango said that now the other issue was to identify the boats by some of the representatives.
