MADURAI: A day after Jesuit priest Alexis Prem Kumar returned safely to India after eight months of captivity in Afghanistan, Indian diplomats in Delhi met him for complete debriefing on his ordeal. Prime Minister Narendra Modi is expected to meet him on Tuesday.

Alexis’ father Antony (75) and his younger brother Joseph met him in Delhi on Sunday night and shared some emotional moments. “I hugged my son tightly for a few minutes after meeting him,” Antony told Express over phone from Delhi.

“I first enquired about his health. He said that he was feeling much better now,” he said. However, higher officials did not allow Prem Kumar’s family members to spend much time with him. “Officials told us that PM Modi will meet my brother on Tuesday,” said Joseph.
