Greetings Pour in from All Quarters, Modi Leads List

CHENNAI: Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Governor K Rosaiah, Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu, Union Finance Minister Arun Jaitley, External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj, Union Minister for IT and Communications, Ravishankar Prasad, a host of political leaders from various parties, film actors including Rajnikanth and Kamal Haasan, industrialists, educationists and people from all walks of life on Tuesday greeted AIADMK general secretary J Jayalalithaa on her 67th birthday.

Prime Minister Modi extended his greetings through twitter saying “birthday greetings to Jayalalithaa ji. May she be blessed with a long life, filled with good health.”

Thanking the Prime Minister, Jayalalithaa, in a letter to him, said “I thank you very much for the kind message of greetings on my birthday. It was thoughtful of you to have remembered my birthday and conveyed your greetings on twitter.”

Governor Rosaiah sent a greeting message with a bouquet and Jayalalithaa has sent a letter thanking him.

Telangana Rashtra Samiti MP Kavitha, BJP State president Tamilisai Soundararajan, CPI State secretary D Pandian, TMC leader and Rajya Sabha MP, BS Gnanadesikan, former BJP MP, CP Radhakrishnan and AISMK founder, actor R Sarathkumar were among those who had extended greetings to the AIADMK chief.

Legal wing celebrates day

Chennai: The members of AIADMK Legal Wing celebrated the 67th birthday of former Chief Minister and party general secretary J Jayalalithaa outside the Madras High Court premises on Tuesday. Legal Wing secretary and AIADMK MP A Navaneethakrishnan, who held the positions of Advocate-General, Madras High Court and chairman,Tamil Nadu Public Service Commission, inaugurated the celebrations.   Legal Wing president and sitting Additional Advocate-General VS Sethuraman presided over the celebrations, organised by Legal Wing south Chennai joint secretary S Diwakar and deputy president of south Chennai (North) wing C Thirumaran. Advocate-General AL Somayaji, government Pleader STS Murthi, additional government Pleader P Sanjai Gandhi and others took part. Blood donation camps, free eye-testing, feeding of 1,000 poor people, distribution of law books to deserving lawyers and sarees and dhotis to 200 poor formed part of the celebrations.

228 get jobs, promotions in stc

Salem: The Tamil Nadu State Transport Corportion, Salem Division, on Tuesday issued appointment letters and promotion orders for 228 candidates in Salem and Dharmapuri zones to mark AIADMK chief J Jayalalithaa’s 67th birthday. According to a statement from the TNSTC Salem Division, “The orders have been issued to mark the birthday of the people’s chief minister Jayalalithaa.”

Chithirai fest comes early

Madurai: It seemed that the Chithirai festival had come early this year when thousands of AIADMK cadre thronged the Vaigai riverbed near Albert Victor Bridge to offer prayers on the 67th birthday celebrations of AIADMK chief J Jayalalithaa on Tuesday. About 10,000 women walked with milk pot on their heads and several functionaries pierced their cheeks with steel rods while youth suspended themselves from hooks and performed ‘Ther Kavadi’.
