VELLORE: DKM College for Women has launched two new three month certificate courses for students . College secretary Maninathan said ‘E-Tourism’ and ‘Functional Hindi’, would be of immense help to students to increase their employability as well as enhancing their skills in entrepreneurship. The E-tourism course was launched as part of the World Tourism Day celebrations that was held on Thursday, he said, enabling students to learn many aspects of tourism, e-commerce activities. While this course will be jointly organised by the departments of History and Economics in the college, the Functional Hindi course will be conducted with the help of local Hindi teachers.
Maninathan said that the Department of Tourism should promote spiritual tourism in Vellore district, blessed as it is, with several ancient temples. Tourism is a good career option for students of history, especially, he added.
Dr Amritavalli, head of the Department of History said that elocution, songs and skit competitions were held to commemorate World Tourism Day and prizes were distributed by the district tourism officer, Selvaraj, to the winners of the competition on Thursday.
