Study Centre at Vorhees College After former HoD

VELLORE: The Post Graduate and Research Department of Economics attached to Voorhees College is planning to establish a study centre in the name of professor P Jegadish Gandhi, a former HOD of the college according to Dr P Anbalgan, HOD. Anbalgan said that an announcement in this regard was made at the two-day national workshop on Research and Methodology and Thesis Writing organised by the department earlier this week.

The Jegadish Gandhi Study Centre is in recognition of the sustained and impacted contributions made to enlarge the frontiers of knowledge in economics and research for more than four decades in Tamil Nadu and across the borders by former Head of the Department of Economics of the College, Professor Gandhi, who is presently the Director, Vellore Institute of Development Studies.

He said that the study centre will be set up in the Department by making use of books, articles and papers published by Dr Gandhi in reputed national and international journals, monographs, project reports, proceedings of conferences, seminars, special lectures, reports in mass media, and unpublished manuscripts. Students will be encouraged to conduct research on Prof. Gandhi’s economic ideas, social issues, social philosophy and Christian Economics leading to his M. Phil degree of the Thiruvalluvar University, Vellore he added. V. Vijayalakshmi, Joint Editor, Southern Economist, Bengaluru, inaugurated Southern Economist Students’ Study Circle in the college to motivate young writers. A.
