Heart attacks, suicide as news on CM health spreads

COIMBATORE, NAGAPATTINAM, ERODE:In tragic turn of events, two persons who were watching updates about Tamil Nadu Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa’s health condition on television, died of heart attack.
On Sunday night, Rasappan (65) from Singanallur, was watching TV, when he heard that the Chief Minister was in a critical condition. He suffered a heart attack and died on the spot. Rasappan’s relatives said that he was a staunch supporter of AIADMK.
Based on the information, police rushed to the spot, recovered his body and sent it to the CMCH for postmortem.

In another such incident, Palaniyammal (62) from NGGO colony near Thudiyalur, also died of a heart attack, while watching television. Family members said that she had been depressed after the Chief Minister was admitted in the Apollo Hospitals.
Thudiyalur Police sent the body to the CMCH after registering a case. Palaniyammal was said to be one of the senior AIADMK cadre in the locality.
Similarly, another man who was distressed about the news on the Chief Minister’s health, attempted to kill self by jumping from a cellphone tower. The person was identified as Loganathan from Kuniyamuthur. Kuniyamuthur Police, who rushed to the spot convinced him not to do so and brought him down.  
In Nagapattinam, unable to bear the deteriorating condition of Jayalalithaa, farmer V Kaliappan (80) from Aayakkaranpulam near Vedaranyam committed suicide by consuming pesticide. Kaliappan was living at Singankuthagai of Aayakkaranpulam with his wife Ponnammaal (75). The couple has two sons and two daughters.

According to sources, Kaliappan became a member of the AIADMK during the period of former Chief Minister M G Ramachandran. He consumed pesticide when his spouse Ponnammaal was out of the house. Vaaimedu police personnel are investigating the case.
In Erode, an AIADMK cadre died due to heart attack. Raju (38) of Ambedkar Nagar, a member of AIADMK, was watching TV till midnight and around 1.30 am, his relatives found him lying unconscious in the chair. He was rushed to Erode GH in an ambulance, but doctors pronounced him brought dead. Raju was a casual labourer and is survived by wife Gandhimathi, two daughters and a son, sources said.
