Three-day state mourning in Puducherry after Jaya's death

PUDUCHERRY: As a mark of respect to Tamilnadu Chief Minister J Jayalalitha who passed  away last night, a three-day state mourning will be observed in the union territory of Puducherry with effect from today.

According to an official release here today, the national flag will be flown half-mast  for three days  from today throughout  the Union Territory of Puducherry  and there will not be any official entertainment during the mourning period.

According to another release a public holiday under the negotiable instruments, the act has been declared in the union territory today  in view of the demise of Jayalalitha. This holiday shall also be applicable  to all government  undertakings, corporations and boards. Schools and educational institutions to remain closed today.
