US Ambassador to India Richard Verma condoles Jaya's death

Jayalalithaa, hospitalised since September 22 and who had suffered a cardiac arrest on Sunday, passed away last night at 11.30.

CHENNAI: US Ambassador to India, Richard R Verma, today condoled the death of AIADMK supremo J Jayalalithaa.

"Chief Minister Jayalalithaa will be remembered for her years of public service to Tamil Nadu and as a supporter of closer ties between the United States and India. Our thoughts and prayers are with the people of Tamil Nadu during this time of sorrow," he said in a statement.

Jayalalithaa, hospitalised since September 22 and who had suffered a cardiac arrest on Sunday, passed away last night at 11.30.
