DMK Leader Karunanidhi Demands Probe Into City Lake Water Release

CHENNAI:  The 92-year-old DMK leader, M Karunanidhi, on Tuesday led the party’s protest demanding a judicial enquiry into the release of water from the Chembarambakkam lake which led to the flooding of Chennai on December 2.

Addressing the protesters, Karunanidhi accused the AIADMK government of not discharging its duty of protecting the people and asked the people to give a fitting reply through Parliamentary democracy. The DMK is waiting for such a verdict from the people and the protest is also an occasion to provide solace to the affected people, he said.

Everyone should do their work to create a situation for protecting the people, he said. DMK general secretary K Anbazhagan, treasurer MK Stalin, Principal secretary K Duraimurugan and district secretaries of the party attended the protest.
