CHENNAI: State Labour Commissioner, P Amudha, has said that industrial establishments, commercial establishments, shops including IT companies should grant a holiday for its employees to exercise their franchise. In a statement, she said that the ECI, announced May 16, 2016 (Monday) as polling day for the Assembly elections to TN Legislative Assembly. “As per the provisions of Section 135B of the Representation of the People Act, 1951 and instructions issued by the Election Commission of India, the employers of Industrial Establishments... are requested to grant a holiday with wages on May,” she said.
