TN Bus Attached for Failing to Pay Compensation

The bus was attached for the failure of it to pay an accident victim the compensation awarded by the local court.

PUDUCHERRY: A bus belonging to Tamil Nadu State Transport Corporation was attached for the failure of it to pay an accident victim the compensation awarded by the local court here.

According to officials sources, Thangaraj (42) of Kilinjikuppam ,Cuddalore  was the victim in the accident. Thangaraj was coming to Puducherry on his bullock cart the  bus hit the cart from behind at Thavalakuppam in 2006. Both the bullocks were killed on the spot and Thangaraj suffered serious injuries. Police filed a case.

The trial in the case was conducted at the Additional Sub-Divisional Magistrate Court. In 2014, the judge of the trial court ordered  the Tamil Nadu government to pay a compensation Rs 2.38 lakhs.

Thangaraj appraised the court about the non payment of compensation, following which the court  on March 16 directed to attach a bus.

The court amen, Gandhi,  along with officials went to the bus stand and attached the express bus about to start for Thanjavur. The bus was taken to the court premises later.
