PUDUCHERRY: The Congress and DMK has finalized the constituencies that each party would contest in the alliance AND THE CANDIDATES WOULD BE ANNOUNCED ON sATURDAY
According to information released by Pradesh Congress Committee President A.Namassivayam, DMK would contest the constituencies of Muthialpet, Orleanpet, Oupplam, Thattanchavady, Mudaliarpet, Mangalam , Mannadipet , Karaikal (South) and Neravy T .R Pattinam .
The congress would contest the remaining constituencies of Raj Bhavan, Lawspet, Kamaraj Nagar, Indira Nagar, Kadirgammam, Ozhukarai, Kalapet, Nellithope , Villianur, Thirubuvanai (SC), Nettapakkam (SC) , Ossudu (SC) Ariyankuppam, Manavely, Embalam, Bahour , Karaikal (North), Nedungadu, Thirunallar, Mahe and Yanam.
Both Congress and DMK would announce their candidates on Saturday .
The Dravida munnetra Kazhagam is making all arrangements for the public meeting to be addressed by DMK chief M Karunanidhi here on Saturday Karunanidhi is scheduled to address a public meeting at Anna thidal in the evening after introducing the candidates contesting the May 16 assembly elections here in the congress-DMK alliance.
DMK north and south convenors S P Sivakumar and R Siva would preside over the meeting in which DMK functionaries and congress functionaries including C P Thirunavukkarasu,R V Janakiraman(DMK) and V Narayansamy , A Namasivayam ( congress) among others besides leaders of IUML and Manitha neya Makkal katchi would address the gathering
PMK to go alone
With the ruling N R Congress refusing to forge an alliance with the Pattali Makkal katchi (PMK),the latter is all set to contest the May 16 assembly elections in the union territory alone.
According to PMK state secretary Gopi,the PMK had approached the AINRC for an alliance.but chief minister N Rangasamy kept silent for a long and refused and hence, the party leadership would decide the candidates for PMK which would be contesting alone.
