Woman, Doctor-Dad Found Dead inside Car

DINDIGUL:A 63-year-old anaesthetist and his daughter, a lawyer, were found dead in a locked car at R M Colony here on Saturday.

Sources said that Dr Somasundaram of Nanthavanapatti, who was formerly an anaesthetist in Dindigul Government Hospital, and his daughter Vanathi, a lawyer were found dead in a locked car.

Vanathi got married to a lawyer Karthikeyan of Tirumangalam two years ago and the couple was living in Chennai. However, due to certain domestic issues, Karthikeyan started living in Madurai and Vanathi returned to her parents’ house recently.

Somasundaram and Vanathi went out in a car on Friday evening and did not return.

Hence, Umathangam, Somasundaram’s wife, launched a search operation for the duo but were unable to trace them.

Meanwhile, police received an alert that a car was stationed at R M Colony for several hours. Hence, police team rushed to the spot and found a man and woman inside. They broke open the car and found that the duo was dead. The deceased were later identified as Somasundaram and Vanathi.

Police also recovered a syringe from the car.

It is suspected that the father-daughter duo committed suicide by injecting poison.

The Dindigul West police registered a case and sent the bodies to the Dindigul Government Hospital for postmortem.
