PUDUCHERRY: Senior Pondicherry Civil Services (PCS) officer A S Sivakumar, serving as  the registrar of cooperative societies (RCS) was suspended on the orders of lieutenant governor  Kiran Bedi for posting obscene videos in a WhatsApp group comprising Bedi and senior officials of the administration, on Friday.

Officer of special duty (OSD) Amrita Behl who is the administrator of the group, on noticing the video, reported it to Bedi.  Thereafter, a written complaint was made to the director general of police S K Gautam by the OSD on Friday.  Sivakumar was placed under suspension on the orders of the lieutenant governor on Friday, pending inquiry, according to official sources.

Sivakumar was detained in the office of senior superintendent of law and order (SSP (L&O)) since Friday evening for inquiry and is still kept confined there. So far no FIR has been registered against Sivakumar, despite the detention.

Meanwhile the action of the government based on the orders of lieutenant governor and without the knowledge of the elected government led by chief minister V Narayanasamy has upset the ruling party.  Calling it an autocratic way of functioning, Congress’s   K.Lakshminarayanan who has gathered along with other MLAs  in the office of SSP (L&O),  said that law should be followed in all government procedures and should not be bypassed while taking action.
