Journalists, SI Rob Bizmen of 52 Kg Silver

MADURAI:  The special team of Madurai suburbs has arrested nine accused of robbery, and they include a Sub -Inspector (SI) of Customs, who passed on information to vernacular journalists after a tip-off from his department informers. The journalists, who arranged the gang, waylaid, kidnapped and took away 52 kg of silver biscuits from Salem businessmen in Vadipatti police limit. Police seized 39.5 kg silver and were on  the lookout for three more accused  who are now absconding.

According to the police, the accused were identified as Mohan (43),  the Customs SI in Tiruchy, David Sahayaraj (35) and Sathish (35),  both journalists of a vernacular magazine, Senthilkumar (35), Surendaran (26), Sivaji (24), Sathyaraj (29), Sheik Mohideen (30) and   Senthil (29), all from Tiruchy district. Police are on the lookout for Bablu, Stephen and Vijayakumar

Madurai district SP Vijayendra S Bidari had formed four special teams, including a cyber crime team, after the robbery. The cyber team  Sub -Inspector Saravanan had collected the call details of victim. Network details revealed that one specific mobile number constantly followed the victim during the day of robbery.
